The Central Library plays a vital role in supporting and furthering the academic and research mission of IIT Bhubaneswar and facilitates the creation and dissemination of knowledge. The range and quality of services offered by the Central Library are comparable to any modern libraries in India of International standard.

In a nutshell, currently it is having over 23000+ volumes of Technical, Text and General books. The Institute has access to over 9,700 full-text electronic journals through 50+ full text e-resources, over a million full-text dissertations and 4 bibliographic databases from a number of publishers and aggregators. Library also has resources like popular magazines/print journals, Institute project reports & theses, reports and Anti-plagiarism tools. The library services are automated through RFID technology using smart library solutions. Library users get access to its digital collection "24 x 7 " on the institute-wide network and off-campus access through MapMyAccess. All the resources, services like its web-based library catalogue, current research publications, new books arrivals, etc. are being updated regularly through an interactive library web portal accessible at http://library.iitbbs.ac.in/.
